Apri is a prescription birth control medication used to prevent pregnancy in women. Apri is a single product containing 2 hormones: desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol. These hormones belong to a group of drugs called hormonal contraceptives. These hormones prevent pregnancy by stopping ovulation and by altering cervical mucus and the lining of the uterus to prevent sperm from entering.
This medication comes in tablet form and is typically given once daily with or without food.
Common side effects of Apri include nausea, breast tenderness, and vaginal bleeding between menstrual periods.
