Giotrif treats certain types of lung cancer. It must be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating food. Limit your time in the sun and wear sunscreen. Diarrhea is common side effect.
Giotrif Overview
Giotrif is a prescription medicine used to treat people with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors express a specific type of gene mutation. This mutation is of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR).
Giotrif belongs to a group of drugs called tyrosine kinase inhibitors which block proteins that promote the development of cancerous cells.
This medication comes in tablet form and is taken typically once a day, without food. Do not eat food for at least 3 hours before and at least 1 hour after taking Giotrif.
Common side effects of Giotrif include diarrhea, skin related side effects such as rash and dry skin, and mouth sores.
