Lactase is an enzyme that breaks down lactose, the natural sugar found in milk and milk products. 

Lactase supplementation is used for lactose intolerance. 

Lactase is used most often for lactose intolerance, a condition in which the body cannot digest lactose found in dairy products. Lactase helps prevent the symptoms of upset stomach, gas, bloating, and diarrhea experienced after eating or drinking dairy products.

There are no reported side effects. Tell your doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away.
