Get Your Measles Booster With The Milk

Flu shots and other immunizations available at many Walmart stores

(RxWiki News) Getting your flu shot — and nine other common vaccines — just became a bit more convenient. No need to hassle with a doctor appointment. Just drop by Walmart.

The massive retail chain recently announced they will be offering ten of the CDC-recommended vaccines for adults and children over 3 at events held in over 2,700 Walmart stores.

"Get vaccinated."

The events will run from August 27 through November 15. The vaccines will be administered by registered nurses who are part of the Mollen Immunization Clinics' nurse network.

They are available for anyone 3 years old and older and follow the recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration.

The vaccines offered include the flu and pneumonia (pneumococcal) vaccines, which will be offered at every Walmart with a pharmacy.

Flu shots will cost $25 and will protect against the H1N1, H3N2 and influenza B strains of the virus.

The Walmarts participating in the broader program will offer the following vaccines: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, chickenpox (varicella), HPV (human papillomavirus), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), meningitis (meningococcal), shingles (herpes zoster) and TDaP (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis/whooping cough).

Individuals can learn details on the specific stores offering the vaccines and make appointments by going to Walmart's website.

Walmart stated in its release of the news that they will accept "thousands of insurance plans" and stated their prices of the immunizations for cash-paying customers will be "up to 37 percent" less than other retail clinics.
