(RxWiki News) Potential contamination has prompted the nationwide recall of several Sabra Dipping Co. hummus products — to the tune of 30,000 cases.
Sabra announced Wednesday that it is voluntarily recalling its Classic Hummus products due to possible Listeria risk.
The recall includes five products:
- Sabra Classic Hummus 10 oz
- Sabra Classic Hummus 30 oz
- Sabra Classic Hummus without Garnish 32 oz
- Sabra Classic Hummus 17 oz Six Pack
- Hummus Dual Pack Classic/Garlic 23.5 oz
So far, no cases of infection have been reported. The possible contamination was discovered during routine testing.
The affected products were distributed across the US to food-service establishments and grocery stores.
Sabra has urged customers to dispose of affected products or return them for a refund.
Listeria is a type of bacteria. It causes infections marked by high fever, headache, nausea, stomach pain, stiffness and diarrhea. Infections are often short-term in healthy patients. However, they can cause serious, sometimes deadly illness in the very young and the elderly, as well as in those with weakened immune systems.
