Opana Overview
Opana is a prescription medication used to treat moderate to severe pain.
Opana belongs to a group of drugs called called opiate (narcotic) analgesics. These work by changing the way the body responds to pain.
Opana is available in a tablet form and is usually given every four to six hours. It will depend on how intense your pain is.
Opana tablets should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.
Opana is also available in an injectable form to be given directly into a vein (IV), in the muscle (IM), and under your skin (subcutaneously) by a healthcare professional.
Common side effects include constipation, nausea, and vomiting.
Opana can also cause drowsiness and dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how Opana affects you.
