The 7 Best Foods for Your Heart
Fish fans, you’re in luck. Doctors have been singing the praises of salmon for years — and for good reason. Salmon contains omega-3 fatty acids, which aid in the prevention of heart disease by reducing inflammation throughout the body. Heart-healthy omega-3’s may also be responsible for lower blood pressure, reduced blood clotting and a decreased risk of stroke. To reap the benefits, add salmon or another fatty fish such as herring or tuna to your diet twice a week. Although salmon is somewhat of a heart “superfood,” not all fish are created equal when it comes to health. Fish that is high in unhealthy fatty acids like tilapia and catfish may not positively affect heart health.
