7 Ways to Boost Your Immune System

Soak Up Some Vitamin D Outside

Spending time outside increases your body’s natural ability to produce vitamin D from the sun. Vitamin D has been shown to strengthen the immune system. The skin produces vitamin D when it’s exposed to sunlight. When the sun’s ultraviolet rays hit your skin, they react with oils to produce vitamin D, which the body absorbs. According to Harvard Medical School, vitamin D may also improve your concentration and make you feel happier. Although getting it from the sun is best, you can get small doses of vitamin D from foods like egg yolks, mushrooms, and fatty fish like salmon and mackerel. During the winter, it can be tough to get enough vitamin D from food sources alone.
