Habits That Harm Your Brain
You might think you’re shutting your brain down when you’re sleeping, but your brain is still working. Sleep plays an important role in helping your brain consolidate memories. Most adults need seven to eight hours of sleep per night. If you’re not sleeping well, start by giving yourself a bedtime. Keep your room dark and quiet. If you can, avoid bright lights two to three hours before you hit the hay. Make sure you’re not drinking too much alcohol or caffeine, and keep your body hydrated. Finally, don’t forget to unplug. It might be hard, but try to keep the TV, phone, iPad and other screens off in the hours before you go to bed.
