Healthy Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day

Build Something!

Was woodshop one of dad’s favorite classes? Even if it wasn’t, a project like building a birdhouse can be a great way to get off the couch and spend some quality time with dad. Woodworking may even be good for the body and brain, too. One study published in PlanetArk found that that being around wood — in the home or working with — had psychological benefits equal to that of being out in nature. Students in classrooms with more wood reported lower heart rates and stress levels compared to those in classrooms with more metal and plastic. So, if you’re looking for something unique to do, a project with dad could be a rewarding way to spend the afternoon.
