Some diets use “cheat” days to incentivize sticking to the diet the rest of the time. Though this may work for some people, one study found that off days may hurt long-term weight-loss goals. In this study, people who were consistent with their diet were 1.5 times more likely to maintain their weight within 5 pounds than those who only dieted on weekdays.
