When starting a new diet, many people forget to add the caloric makeup of their drinks into the equation. The average American drinks 1.5 cans of soda a day, adding more than 240 empty calories to their daily caloric intake. Alcohol, soda and energy drinks can all cause problems due to their high caloric value and relatively low nutritional value.
