How The Flu Can Complicate Your Health
New research adds influenza to the list of negative health consequences of obesity. Not only does obesity potentially inhibit the body’s immune system, research suggests that being overweight also may lower the effectiveness of flu vaccines and increase the risk of hospitalization and flu-related death.
