Signs You're Sleep Deprived

How Did You Sleep Last Night?

The body is busy, even during sleep. The amount of sleep a person gets each night may determine his or her mental and physical functions the following day. When the body is sleep-deprived, you may feel grumpy or foggy — but your memory, health, looks and even your ability to lose weight can be affected too.

The National Sleep Foundation’s 2015 sleep guidelines are broken down by age. Most adults (ages 18 to 64) need 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night. Teenagers (ages 14 to 17) need 8 to 10 hours, while children (ages 6 to 13) need 9 to 11 hours. Infants, toddlers and preschoolers need even more than that. For full sleep guidelines, see the official press release.
