What You Need to Know About Concussion

Recovery: Increased Risk of Another Concussion

Once you have a concussion, your risk for a future concussion is three to five times greater. It is especially important to avoid situations that could cause a jolt or blow to the head while recovering from a concussion. That’s because a repeat concussion can slow the rate of recovery and increase the chance for long-term problems. The possible long-term consequences of concussion include difficulties with concentration and memory, chronic headaches and even trouble balancing. Be sure to talk with your doctor before resuming any activity such as football or biking.
